Miniversum to stay open until spring 2020

Unveiled in 2014, Miniversum is a whole railway world in miniature. Its ever-moving terrain of trains and signals represents specific locations and landscapes in Hungary, Austria and Germany.

As announced in November, this unique feature was closing for good on 31 January – but that was before visitors flocked here as never before, sometimes 800-1,000 day when capacity is only 225. The owners and operators want to serve the public, so they decided to postpone the closure of Miniversum by two months. Pre-redeemed tickets are valid for the exhibition, regardless of the printed period of validity, until its closure.

Several buyers from Hungary and around the world have expressed an interest in buying this giant feature. But Miniversum was designed and built specifically for its site on Andrássy út, and cannot be adapted to be set up elsewhere in the same form. Not only that, but it was created to have a lifespan of six years – hence the closure.

On the plus side, Miniversum is saying goodbye with a photo exhibition, 24 images showing the history of its construction, with plenty of insider information.

In addition, a Hungarian-only behind-the-scenes tour allows up to eight people to take a look at the control room and learn all the tricks of the technology.
